Red Sails

Red Sails is a popular, fast-growing (30–45 days) heirloom loose-leaf lettuce, recognized as a 1985 All-America Selections winner. It forms large, 10–12 inch wide, tender, bronze-red ruffled leaves with a light green base, holding a mild, non-bitter flavor even in heat. It is highly bolt-resistant, nutrient-dense, and ideal for cutting as baby greens. 
Key Characteristics & Growing Tips:
Appearance: Deep red/bronze, curly, and ruffled, deep-lobed leaves.
Flavor/Texture: Mild, sweet, and buttery; tender and non-bitter.
Growth Habit: Loose-leaf rosette, 10–12 inches in size.
Harvesting: Can be harvested as baby leaves or full-sized heads; allows for "cut-and-come-again" harvesting.
Cultivation: Thrives in full sun or partial shade (in hot areas) with consistent moisture. It is highly bolt-resistant, allowing for a longer harvest season.
Nutritional Value: Contains high levels of Vitamin A and Vitamin C. 
This variety is highly versatile for salads, sandwiches, and as a garnish due to its intense color.
