Dianthus Coronet is a series of Dianthus chinensis (Chinese Pinks) known for exceptionally large (2-3 inch) flowers on compact, 8-10 inch tall mounding plants. Ideal for cool-season, they offer uniform flowering in shades of Cherry, Purple, Rose, Strawberry, and White. These hardy, fragrant annuals or short-lived perennials are excellent for containers and border edging.
Key Features & Characteristics
Blooms: Large 2-3 in. (5-8 cm) fringed flowers, often with darker eyes, bloom in early spring through fall.
Plant Habit: Compact, mounded, and uniform habit, making them suitable for small spaces, pots, or borders.
Colors: The series includes Cherry Red, Purple, Rose, Strawberry (coral/salmon), and White.
Performance: Thrives in cool weather, with high light and cool nights being optimal for growth.
Hardiness: Zones 5a-9; often treated as a spring/fall annual but can be a short-lived perennial.
